Hilmar is a highly experienced investment and risk management professional. Before joining the firm, he was chief risk officer of Fortress Investment Group and Brevan Howard US. He also risk-managed Bank of America’s macro trading businesses. He previously held roles as a trader and portfolio manager in relative value arbitrage trading at Deutsche Bank and fixed income portfolio management at Swiss Re Financial Products, where he also established the hedging of blended financial and insurance risks. As CIO of Primus Financial Products, the first credit derivatives products company, Hilmar built and managed a credit derivatives portfolio that enabled the company to go public.

Hilmar received his MS in mathematics from the University of Hannover and completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School.
